Powerhouse Marks First Year

A scaled-down celebration recognizes a space that’s become a centerpiece of campus life.

Beloit commemorated the Powerhouse’s first anniversary in February with special food, music, virtual reality game equipment, and swag giveaways, all at a safe physical distance.

Because of Covid protocols, only students, faculty, and staff were invited this year. “Though we are not able to fully celebrate this milestone this year,” a campus email invitation read, “we hope that our second birthday will include a magnificent celebration event!”

The Powerhouse has proven to be the most useful building on campus during the pandemic, allowing plenty of indoor space for classes, physical activity, and safe social gatherings. The campus Covid testing center is currently located on the building’s fourth floor.
